Multifunctional room challange

Our little spare room which will be our guest room, office and clutter storage, very multifunctional since we only have a two bed house. It is a challenge to fit all these purposes into a small room. Well, I'm looking forward to see the end result.

This is my inspiration image. I adore these woods, faux fur and white walls for bigger space illusion.

Our damp house

What causes damp? What causes rising damp or is there a such thing as a condensation damp? I'm so confused. There is so much contradicting information.
I'm currently trying to figure out what should I do to my house to prevent damp or mould? OK, we have had DPC installed, but does it help? Is there a such thing as rising damp or is it a myth? Somewhere I found information that DPC should be taken out of walls so they could breath. What? We've only just had it done. Who to believe??

Even if leaving damp proofing as it is what should I do with condensation in our house? Install vents, ok, but the heat will escape, so more money on bills? Hm. What about situations where mould appears around the vent? What causes that? Who has the answer to all of this and how I solve the problem?

The more I read the more I'm confused about how to treat it. I feel down because I'm unsure whether actions I will make will improve the situation. I will update on that more, since solving this problem is a priority.

Our first project - bathroom

Every room in our house needs a touch of work. I think our bathroom and kitchen need the most. Luckily or unluckily we can't afford to put a new kitchen in so instead we decided to renovate our bathroom.
It is happening very soon, a week from today. We are looking forward to it and I think we have pretty much everything we need. We are employing someone to put our bathroom suite in and for tiling, but everything else we will be doing our selves. We want it to be right, otherwise we would have had a go at tiling, although I still hope that I will one day, maybe when it comes to kitchen.

Originally we wanted to go for something neutral straight away, as Col kept going on about it being more attractive to buyers when reselling. Then I quickly came up with a picture in my mind. I suppose I agree with him on that note because it would be easier for buyers to decorate other rooms than a bathroom, if they would have had to get rid of the tiles etc. On the other note I think, this house is for us living in it, why should we think what other people would like to have there?

Anyways, I'm happy with what we are going for.
We are going for neutral/sandy tiles. We couldn't afford to tile everywhere, and we couldn't afford a plasterer either, so we are having a bathroom friendly wallpaper instead, but most of the walls will be tiled.

Something similar to these pictures.

Nautical, but nice

Having changed my mind about what decor I'm going to do in our living room I found myself inspired by nautical and beach house designs..
Although we are not decorating our living room until September yet, I think I've finally come up with a perfect style for us, or me, maybe, as it will probably will be my way no matter what (A)
The only issue I have is that I've got to buy some of these items right now as they may not be available at the time of decorating. I only hope my wallet will stretch.

I think I love this style because I grew up by the sea and I always adore everything to do with it. Living in the midlands in England, I miss sea very much.
